ONE MAN STANDING IN BETWEEN CUOMO AND JUSTICE

OVER THE PAST two months, two scandals have subsumed the administration of New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo: the state’s gross mishandling of the coronavirus pandemic, especially in the state’s nursing homes, and the governor’s reported harassment of several women around him. But the state attorney general has launched a formal investigation into only one of those scandals.

BLOOD TYPE RISK TO CONTRACIT COVID AND PREVENT

coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 may latch more easily onto the airway cells of people with type A blood compared with those with type B or O blood, a new study suggests. The findings hint at a possible explanation for why, throughout the pandemic, studies have found those with type A blood are likelier to catch COVID-19 and develop severe symptoms than other blood types.

UNCHECKED POWERS CONTINUE - GOV. CUOMO GETS A NEW LEASE .. DEMOCRATS ARE PATHETIC

The New York state Senate backed the new restrictions on Cuomo’s executive authority by a party-line vote of 43-20 on Friday afternoon.

Lawmakers in the Assembly followed suit, voting 107-43 later Friday to strip Cuomo of the emergency powers.

Both chambers are dominated by Democrats.

“The public deserves to have checks and balances,” Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins (D-Westchester) said. “This legislation creates a system with increased input while at the same time ensuring New Yorkers continue to be protected.”

DANIEL ALVINO ( R.I.P.)

Uncounted  - “It might sound cruel, but I have to give it to you straight.  Your father is a dying man.  He is not going to come back from this.  You can give him dialysis if you want, but you are only prolonging the inevitable.  He is going to die.”

I never knew the name of that doctor.  I don’t even know his face.

Because of COVID-19, I had to make the decision to let my father go over the phone with a doctor I didn’t know.

The decision still haunts me to this day, but it had to be made.  Dad had contracted the virus in a nursing home rehab recovering from neck surgery.

He had been on a ventilator for COVID-19 pneumonia for 9 days and every day his prognosis grew grimmer than the day that preceded it.  He had signed a “Do Not Resuscitate” order before he agreed to be intubated in the wee hours of the morning on April 2nd, 2020 and I had to obey his wishes.

“You made the right decision for your Father, Ms. Alvino,” the Doctor said, “I want to assure you that he will not pass alone.  He will have someone with him and he won’t be alone.”

“Will he be in pain?  Does he know he’s dying?” I stammered through sobs.

“No, Ms. Alvino.  He will be very comfortable and in no pain.  He will pass away peacefully in his sleep.”

And with that, I hung up the phone and went to the bathroom to vomit.

Daniel Alvino, my tough-as-nails 76-year-old Dad died on April 14th, 2020.

He was one of Governor Andrew Cuomo’s uncounted.
