Quiero tomar un momento para responder al caballero. En primer lugar, estoy de acuerdo con usted al 100% con respecto al régimen actual de PLD

 (dictadura suave), esto incluye al actual presidente Medina, a cualquier candidato inspirador como Leonel Fernández o cualquier otro miembro de este Partido. He hecho una importante observación de los muchos individuos que crecieron en casa y que impulsan agresivamente sus ideas muy socialistas e incluso comunistas. He observado que muchos colegios universitarios (especialmente de la universidad pública (La WAS / UASD) que se han lavado el cerebro con idealistas socialistas e incluso comunistas. Durante el último año y medio he estado involucrado con la política dominicana. Estoy muy preocupado con el "socialista encubierto". La mayoría de los políticos dominicanos, patriotas educados y no educados (muy inteligentes) que tienen buenas intenciones pero tienen esta idealología socialista en lo profundo del ADN. Honestamente, debo decir que esto es una gran preocupación, ya que soy un dado. Corazón, capitalista, estadounidense, conservador. Todos sabemos lo que el socialista le ha hecho a Venezula. Gente muriendo, muriendo de hambre, comiendo de la basura. La República Dominicana se dirige a una Venezula PARTE 2 ...

Quiero dejar claro que incluso cuando estaba corriendo como Diputado Ultramar para la línea PDI y Ramfis 2020. Hablé abiertamente contra el dictador Trujillo. Menciono algunas de sus buenas obras. Pero nunca podríamos olvidar el horror de este dictador brutal y los más de 100,000 asesinatos bajo su régimen.

Tammy Lawrence-Daley is the Delaware woman who was attacked in the Dominican Republic in January 2019 at the Majestic Elegance resort. She told the world about her ordeal in a shocking Facebook post.

In  April 2019, NBC New York reportedthat two representatives of the state were asking the FBI to conduct a full investigation into the deaths of U.S. citizens Orlando Moore and Portia Ravanelle in the Dominican Republic. The couple died after their car plunged into the ocean on the island. 

The victims’ families believe that there are too many unanswered questions regarding the deaths and are calling for a more thorough U.S.-led investigation. In February 2019, one month after Lawrence-Daley’s attack, the United Kingdom’s Foreign Office issued a warning to UK citizens who were traveling to the Dominican Republic due to higher levels of crime being reported.

My story...please no negative comments, this is my truth as I lived it.

How do you explain to your kids you were almost killed by some random stranger and that ‘Mommy is coming home, but I don’t look like myself’?  How do you look into your parents eyes as they gaze upon your battered face telling them, ‘I’m okay, I’ll be okay’.  Seeing friends break down in tears as they look at you.  Everyone asking, ‘why?’, ‘how?’ You tell them a story.  You recount every detail very matter of fact so that you don’t break down, that you stay strong… so they don’t see how you are crumbling inside with fear, disappointment, and weakness.

Now that I’ve had some time to heal, it’s time to tell my story, in the hopes that women will be more aware, and hopefully prevent what happened to me. I also want people to understand that the resorts will claim NO liability or responsibility and you will have no recourse for any reimbursement of expenses.

I went on vacation at the end of January with my husband and our best friends, Diane and James.  We went to an all-inclusive resort, Majestic Elegance, in the Dominican Republic.  We arrived on a Monday night.  After checking out the resort, we went to bed relatively early (10ish), because let’s face it… it was a long day and we aren’t so young anymore!
Tuesday brought sunshine and beach-time! That night we met up with obbur friends for the theatre show.  It was all about 80's music…right up our alley.
The show ended somewhere around 10:30pm and we went back to our rooms.  I had worked up an appetite dancing so I called down to room service. I received a ‘busy’ message so I tried calling again.  At that time I got a message that they were no longer serving (I can’t remember the exact message).  I told my husband I was going to run downstairs to the lounge in our building for a snack and I’d be back in 5 minutes. I ended up bypassing the lounge in our building, and opted to go to the lounge in the next building. which was on the beach.  I thought I could get some pictures of the moon on the water, but I never made it to the beach.

As I went through the rotunda between buildings, I noticed there wasn’t anyone in the hallway.  Not majorly odd, but still eerily quiet.  I took about 10 or so steps just swinging my wristlet back and forth, not a care in the world. That's when I heard it.  Heavy footsteps... one, two, three, four, then they sped up, and then before I could react I was plowed into from behind and immediately immobilized.  His arms wrapped around me and he  started pulling me immediately into an unlocked maintenance room...

I’m not going to go into the gory details of everything, however, please know that I fought with everything I had at that moment.  He was too strong.  The next 8 hours brought me pain and fear.  I was strangled multiple times to unconsciousness. My lifeless body was drug down concrete stairs to an underground waste water area. I was kicked in the head, I was beaten with a club. And then strangled again for the kill; at which time he disposed of my body into an area I refer to as the ‘hole’.  I was unconscious multiple times during this savage attack, so I have no idea what else was done to me during that time.  Somehow I survived.  Again, I won't go into all of the hell that I went through being basically 'buried' in that hell hole for so many hours.

I spent 5 days in the medical clinic (an offsite hospital) and had surgery to repair my injuries. I am still dealing with several issues, including nerve damage, as well as, all of the medical expenses since being home.  Majestic Elegance claims no responsibility for the attack since I couldn't identify the attacker (even though he was wearing a uniform WITH the resort logo and hit me directly in front of the unlocked maintenance room and dragged me down concrete stairs to a basement so that no one could hear or find me.)  Police did find evidence of the blood smeared mop handle and a maintenance hat in the area I was found, but this means nothing in these countries.
There are no cameras, no bright lighting, etc.  My husband and friends went to the front desk at least 3 times throughout the night before security even agreed to look for me. This consisted of them taking a quad to the beach and looking on the beach.  The security at Majestic Elegance thought I was drunk somewhere.  I went missing at 10:30 and was found over 8 hrs later.  It was hell.

This man thought he killed me, but he failed.  He is still out there, a predator, waiting for his next victim.  Only the next woman may not be so fortunate.  Please, please do not walk alone.  These attacks are happening too frequently and the criminals are NOT being prosecuted even though evidence is found.  Victims are not being compensated for medical or pain and suffering, and the resorts are not held liable.  Majestic Elegance didn't offer to reimburse us for our vacation, let alone my current medical bills.  Litigation went nowhere.  Stories are being squashed.
When you are in unfamiliar places, or even in familiar places, please remember…be smart, be safe.

holars agree that Roe v. Wade was wrongly decided. But just how wrong is it? Is it bad law solely because it declares a right to something the Constitution is silent about, or does its judicial malpractice run deeper?

I have long argued that legal abortion violates not only the spirit of the Constitution, but the text itself – specifically, that the Fourteenth Amendment’s guaranteed equal protection of all people’s right to life has always applied to the preborn. Now, The Stream reports that the “Harvard Journal of Law and Public Policy” has published an article written by Harvard law student (and former Live Action contributor) Josh Craddock that lays out the case in perhaps the most depth it’s ever received.

The first key point of Craddock’s work, critiquing the late, great Justice Antonin Scalia from the right, is an audacious undertaking, but here it’s warranted. You see, while Scalia was a committed originalist and clear opponent of Roe, he was also of the opinion that the Constitution is neutral toward abortion – that its use of the word “persons” “clearly means walking-around persons,” and therefore, states should be left free to set whatever abortion laws they want. Craddock notes several other pro-life judicial originalists who hold (or held) this view, though Scalia is the most recent and most revered modernly.

Craddock concedes that there is some basis for this thinking because “natural rights were not exhaustively enshrined in the federal Constitution” and “states have traditionally decided the question of personhood.” However, he rightfully maintains that a truly originalist answer to the question has to consider what the word “persons” was understood to mean when the Fourteenth Amendment was written and ratified.

He proceeds to explain that layman’s dictionaries treated the concepts of humanity and personhood interchangeably, and so did legal terminology – more explicitly so, in fact. As we’ve discussed in the past, Craddock notes that Blackstone expressly recognized that personhood and the right to life existed before birth with a simple and clear legal standard: “where life can be shown to exist, legal personhood exists” (emphasis added). This also perfectly explains why it’s irrelevant that past laws didn’t protect the preborn prior to quickening.

Craddock next shows that many of the states that voted to ratify the Fourteenth Amendment had also criminalized abortion, meaning they understood personhood then in much the same way that pro-lifers understand it now:

By the time of the Fourteenth Amendment’s adoption, “nearly every state had criminal legislation proscribing abortion,” and most of these statutes were classified among “offenses against the person.” The original public meaning of the term “person” thus incontestably included prenatal life. Indeed, “there can be no doubt whatsoever that the word ‘person’ referred to the fetus.” In twenty‐three states and six territories, laws referred to the preborn individual as a “child.” Is it reasonable to presume that these legislatures would have used this terminology if “they had not considered the fetus to be a ‘person’”?

The adoption of strict anti‐abortion measures in the mid‐nineteenth century was the natural development of a long common‐law history proscribing abortion. Beginning in the mid‐thirteenth century, the common law codified abortion as homicide as soon as the child came to life (animation) and appeared recognizably human (formation), which occurred approximately 40 days after fertilization. Lord Coke later cited the “formed and animated standard,” rearticulating it as “quick with childe.”

From there, Craddock explains how the quickening standard was little more than a practical evidentiary standard, not a meaningful commentary on prenatal life (or lack thereof). But interestingly, he points out that even by the mid-nineteenth century, courts and states alike were increasingly rejecting it as scientifically obsolete, and replacing it with – surprise! – fertilization.

When the Amendment was adopted in 1868, the states widely recognized children in utero as persons. Twenty‐three states and six territories referred to the fetus as a “child” in their statutes proscribing abortion. At least twenty‐eight jurisdictions labeled abortion as an “offense[] against the person” or an equivalent criminal classification. Nine of the ratifying states explicitly valued the lives of the preborn and their pregnant mothers equally by providing the same range of punishment for killing either during the commission of an abortion. The “only plausible explanation” for this phenomenon is that “the legislatures considered the mother and child to be equal in their personhood.” Furthermore, ten states (nine of which had ratified the Fourteenth Amendment) considered abortion to be either manslaughter, assault with intent to murder, or murder.

Next, and perhaps most importantly, Craddock examines the thinking of the Fourteenth Amendment’s drafters. There’s an understandable assumption that because the amendment’s primary purpose was extending citizenship to freed blacks after the Civil War, its effects shouldn’t be construed to extend beyond that purpose. But under the originalist principle of authorial intent, the first word is often the last word in resolving such confusion:

Senator Jacob Howard, who sponsored the Amendment in the Senate, declared the Amendment’s purpose to “disable a state from depriving not merely a citizen of the United States, but any person, whoever he may be, of life, liberty and property without due process.” Even the lowest and “most despised of the [human] race” were guaranteed equal protection. Representative Thaddeus Stevens called the Amendment “a superstructure of perfect equality of every human being before the law; of impartial protection to everyone in whose breast God had placed an immortal soul” […] The primary Framer of the Fourteenth Amendment, Representative John Bingham, intended it to ensure that “no state in the Union should deny to any human being . . . the equal protection of the laws.”

In light of this evidence and reasoning (as well as rebuttals to possible objections I have skipped, but which you should take the time to read), Craddock concludes that there is only one proper constitutional approach to abortion:

If prenatal life is to be protected under the Fourteenth Amendment, Congress or the courts must intervene in states that do not guarantee equal protection and due process to preborn human beings. After all, “the [Fourteenth] amendment was designed to limit state power and authorize Congress to enforce such limitations.” Should a state refuse to protect prenatal life, it would be a violation of equal protection[.]

Hoy en día, muchos están confundidos, enojados y algunos están contentos con la cancelación del evento programado con el aspirante a candidato Ramfis Dominguez Trujillo en la Iglesia de Scientology en Manhattan, Nueva York.

Analicemos qué sucedió y cómo y por qué la Iglesia de Scientology (COS) tomó esta decisión.

Primero, se presume que los Funcionarios (Departamento Legal) del COS solicitaron una reunión de emergencia con Miguel Estrella, Presidente si el Instituto Duartiano, NYC y Germán Batista, Director de Scientology / líder de la comunidad dominicana NYC. LA CHARLA "COMO AFECTA LA MIGRACION ILEGAL LA OBRA DE DUARTE", HA SIDO SUSPENDIDA HASTA NUEVO AVISO. UNA REUNIÓN DE EMERGENCIA POR LA UNIDAD OFICIAL DE LA IGLESIA DE SCIENTOLOGY, EL CUAL NOS INFORMO DE DICHA DECISIÓN.

Espero que todos estén de acuerdo conmigo en que aceptamos y respetamos la descripción de los COS para utilizar las instalaciones. El Instituto Duartiano fue el anfitrión de este evento.

El hecho es que el COS es probablemente una organización sin fines de lucro de la Sección 501 (c) (3), específicamente aquellas que se consideran organizaciones benéficas públicas, fundaciones privadas o fundaciones operativas privadas. En este caso una iglesia.

Soy un firme creyente de nuestra Constitución y Declaración de Derechos de los Estados Unidos. La primera enmienda, Freedom of Religion, es la base de nuestros padres fundadores en los Estados Unidos.

Norma McCorvey, who joined the anti-abortion fight nearly 10 years ago and says she regrets her role in Roe v. Wade, said the Supreme Court's decision is no longer valid because scientific and anecdotal evidence that has come to light in the last 30 years has shown the negative effects of abortion.

"We're getting our babies back," a jubilant McCorvey said at a news conference while flanked by about 60 women, some who sobbed and held signs that read "I regret my abortion."

"I feel like the weight of the world has just been lifted off my shoulders," said McCorvey, 55.
